AI voice agents

Role: AI Developer (remote, part-time)

AI voice agents for scheduling, appointment booking and task automation, built with the Camie Tech AI team. Tools exposed through MCP, calls handled with VAPI, and bookings and follow-ups automated with n8n, Make and the Google Calendar API.

The problem

Small businesses needed calls answered, appointments booked and routine tasks handled without a person on the line, with every booking landing in the business's real calendar.

Constraints

  • Voice: the agent has to answer within a natural pause in conversation
  • Bookings had to land in the clients' real Google Calendars
  • Part-time and remote, working with a team in the United Kingdom

Decisions and why

  1. Agent tools exposed through MCP

    MCP gave the agent a defined set of tools (look up availability, book, reschedule) instead of free-form actions, which keeps what a voice agent can do on a customer's calendar explicit and testable.

  2. Workflow automation with n8n and Make

    Confirmations, reminders and follow-up tasks were workflows rather than code, so the team could change them without a deployment.

Result

Voice agents for scheduling and appointment booking, with bookings written to Google Calendar and follow-up automation through n8n and Make, delivered with the Camie Tech AI team between January and March 2025.
